Birthday Present!

My birthday was this past Friday and the boys (Mike, Will, and Tommo) got me a great present

It's a flip video. And look who's on it:

And here's my first video. Tommo wanted me to hold him, so this is essentially baby torture. Pay no attention to the loud noises in the background, that's Will popping the bubble wrap. I promise more interesting videos in the future.

Thanks boys! Grandma will be so happy to see videos.

You know what I'm sick of?

You know what I'm sick of? People who don't think the rules apply to them. No pleases, no thank yous, and I'm not talking about 4 year olds. I'm talking about grownup who know better. Grownups who think the world revolves around them.

And you know the sucky part about this? They might even see this post and not realize I'm speaking of them because they are oblivious to the people around them.

Sixty

60-- That's how many days I have left of my job. It's been so long since I looked for a job (15 years) that I'm lost on how to approach this. My company is offering outplacement services, which I will take advantage of, but I first need to get my resume in a spot where they can help me with it. I have to put on my way-back glasses and think of all the stuff I've done.

I think when I start my next job, I'll keep a list somewhere (Online of course -- I lose all paper that comes into my house, worse that socks in a dryer) of all the things I've done, so finding the next next job will be easier.

Anyone in the Twin Cities area looking for a Data Architect/Data Modeler/Data Analyst? Keep me in mind, maybe your company gives you a referral bonus?

Thistle Man

So earlier today I was playing with Will. He has a play computer that has a bunch of games on it. One of the games plays songs/noises when you push a letter of the alphabet. For instance I pushed the O, which has an oyster on it, and it makes underwater bubbling noises.

I wanted to see what the heart would sound like, so I asked Will to push it. He said, "but thistle man is already playing". Huh? Thistle man? The song was "This old man". It's funny how they hear things.

In Remembrance

It's been two years since Joseph's death. I want to do something special for him on this day, I just can't figure out what to do. I feel like I should have done some advance planning for this day.

We miss you little boy.

Yarney Gift!

As a knitter, I love to receive knit gifts. (or is it knitted gifts??) I know how much time and effort went into an item. I also like to look at it and try to figure out how it was knit.

Thomas just received a very nice sweater from someone we met when we did our story with the NY Times about working with a perinatal hospice group. The sweater is so cute! Exactly the right size (which isn't easy with Bubba, since he's so big for his age), and easy to put on (a bonus). We love the yarn. I really need to work with chunky yarn more. So Neela, if you're reading -- thank you, we love it! It will come in handy since the weather today is -1 degrees F.

Also I got some yarn from Candy Pants Yarn. It's to make "scrappy" or "potluck" longies (wool baby pants), or hats. Isn't it beautiful? All those colors together! I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Oh, and one more thing -- I've joined a Congo on Hyenacart. So now the knitting I sell will be on The Crunchy Congo! Come check it out. My store is at the bottom, called Crescent Moon Mama (what else? :) )
